For the first time since its opening, Epcot’s Mission: SPACE is closing for a nearly two month refurbishment this summer. It will be closed from June 5, 2017 through the end of July 2017.
There’s speculation that new missions could be added to the aging attraction. The rumor is that this is one of many small steps toward a complete revitalization of Future World, which may see the complete closure of other dated attractions such as Ellen’s Energy Adventure and a much-needed overhaul of the Imagination Pavilion.
Mission: SPACE first opened in 2003 and replaced a much beloved Future World attraction, Horizons. Reportedly, Horizons was demolished because the building was slowly falling into a sinkhole.
