At D23 Expo Japan, Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts announced that the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy attraction, at the previous Universe of Energy, will be a roller coaster.
The rumor has been floating around for awhile now, and now there is official confirmation.
But it isn’t just any run of the mill coaster. It’s going to be one of the worlds longest enclosed coasters.
It’s also going to have a “unique story,” and a new ride system, currently being crafted by Walt Disney Imagineering.
Disney keeps mentioning that it will be “family friendly” and a “family attraction.” They even say the point of the Epcot transformation is to “..work to transform Epcot into a place that’s more family, more relevant, more timeless and more Disney.”
““As we build upon its core mission of optimism and hope to inspire the world, the real will become fantastic and the fantastic will become real—in whole new ways at Epcot,”
The new coaster will open by 2021, in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary.
I can’t wait to see what they do with it!
