Lion King fans get ready for a new limited-time prix fixe dining experience at Jiko- The Cooking Place.
Beginning June 30, 2019 guests can experience an exclusive three-course menu in celebration of The Lion King. During this special event musicians will perform African melodies and songs from the movie soundtrack.
Inspired by The Circle of Life: Nants’ Ingonyama, each dish is inspired by the story of Simba growing up and highlight “each stage of his life through unique flavors and spices.”
You’ll kick off your meal with the “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” starter – Young Cedar Creek clam malata, potatoes, pomegranate, and a bone marrow finish.
“This dish symbolizes the playfulness of Simba’s joyous childhood and his desire to one day become king.”
The main course will be called Be Prepared. Here you can choose from two entrées:
Bone-In Ribeye with hibiscus, nettles, and fregula
Lobster Sosatie with red shrimp, squid, mussels, and fragrant rice.
“These dishes are inspired by the eerie elephant boneyard and Simba’s courage to persevere through trials and tribulations.”
The Dessert course (my favorite) is called Hakuna Matata-caramelized orange, chocolate choux, and playful foliage.
This course is celebrating balance as Simba grows up and learns what it means to be king.
Finish up with “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” A selection of friandeses (pictured above)and teas.
Cost and How to Book
This limited-time special menu will be available during dinner at Jiko – The Cooking Place starting June 30. If you don’t want to participate but do want to eat at Jiko’s don’t worry. This is in addition to Jiko’s regular menu.
Pricing is $65 per person, tax and gratuity not included, with the option to add your choice of two levels of wine pairings at an additional cost. That is actually a really good price for this kind of experience! So if you are going to be visiting the parks during this time you really might want to consider this option!
If you would like to book this special dining option contact Disney (via the website or phone 407 939-3463) or talk to your travel agent to add this to your trip.
