Trains have always been an important part of the Walt Disney legacy. From November 10, 2018- March 31, 2019, guest can visit the Main & Spotlight Galleries of the Napa Valley Museum Yountville, to see the Walt Disney’s Trains exhibit.
This exhibit is organized with the Walt Disney Family Museum to examine the influence railroad trains had on Walt Disney and how it “tells the story of how his railroading legacy lives on to this day in Disney films and theme parks around the world.”
The new exhibit will include artifacts, archival videos, images, and stories about Walt Disney and his trains. Including Walt Disney’s Carolwood gondola railway car, his light-up model of Disneyland and a custom model train that was created in conjunction with the “Napa Valley Wine Train by the Napa Valley Model Railroad Historical Society.”
Visitors will learn how Walt’s passion for trains inspired Disney studio short cartoons and feature films and influenced his personal life at home. Guest curator Michael Campbell, President Emeritus of the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society, constructed the exhibition to reflect Walt’s railroad journey from his early years to the creation of Disneyland and beyond, and reminds us that – over a century later – Walt’s railroading influence remains a vibrant and relevant force. Includes an exclusive audio tour created by exhibition curator and Disney trains expert Michael Campbell, narrated by longtime Disney announcer Bill Rogers, plus Disney train-themed merchandise in our Museum Store.
If you want to visit this exhibit, it will open at 11 AM on November 10, with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Regular admission prices will apply from 11 AM -4 PM opening day. From 4 PM-7 PM admission will be free for members or $30 for non-member adults and $20 for kids.
Tickets are available on the museum’s website: www.napavalleymuseum.org.
