It’s January, we all know what that means! Time to tackle some resolutions!
If you are like me, you have put a list of goals or resolutions on a wall, the fridge or in your planner. And if you are like me…around the first week of February, you get distracted. Bye-bye resolution!
I have decided to go through some of these popular resolutions and help you do them…DISNEY style! Every Tuesday for the next 4 weeks I’ll drop a popular resolution and ideas to get you going! We started LAST WEEK with Fitness Goals! Now let’s move on to one of my personal Goals…
Week 2:
“In 2021, I will make more time for family and friends!”
If the pandemic taught us anything, it’s the importance of family and the friends you surround yourself with! Here are some ways you can enjoy family time in and out of the parks and physically distant ways to hang with friends as well!
If You Are Staying At Walt Disney World Resort
There are so many fun things to experience as a family. Attractions in the parks and days at the pool are the first that come to mind. However, what about some other ideas to create new traditions (and fond memories) with your family in parks and resorts?
In The Parks
Spot The Hidden Mickeys
“Hidden Mickeys” were reportedly started as an “inside joke” of the Disney Imagineers finding creative and artistic ways to hide hidden Mickeys in attractions, restaurants and more. No matter what the actual history behind these little hidden treasures, we love a good detective adventure! I am contemplating doing a Hidden Mickey Day myself! Make it a part of your day by having everyone make a list of all the Mickeys they find, (take photos if you can) and see who can find the most by the end of the day. The one with the least hidden Mickeys on their list can buy everyone a Mickey Premium Bar! That sounds completely fair, right?
Capture Your Moment – A Disney Parks Photo Experience
Get pictures taken by your own Disney PhotoPass photographer and make memories in a Magical Setting, Magic Kingdom! You can reserve a personalized 20-minute photo session that captures your memories of your trip together! You can even book another 20 minute session to make it a full 40 minutes of picture time with you and your party. Limit of 8 people. When I called to enquire, they did verify you can usually do 1 or 2 locations in the 20 minutes depending on varying factors such as time of day, availability and party size! I also verified the Cost with a Cast Member at $50.00 per session.
Advance reservations are highly recommended and available by calling (407) 939-7758.
Disney Wall Challenge
The “Wall Photos” Fad took a little hiatus due to the Pandemic. BUT, I’m here to tell you, that it doesn’t need to be a fad, you can totally make it a tradition! My husband and I did an “Epic Disney Wall Challenge” in 2018 and had a BLAST. We even created our own hashtag. Yep, we are those people. We accomplished 4 parks and about 36 walls in one day. It may seem impossible, but now that park-hopping has returned, you can do it. I believe in you! Do it throughout your day in one park as a family or try for more than one park in a day if you are feeling like a true challenge!
Post your pics using #epicdisneywallchallenge and make some memories together.
At The Resort
Golf OR mini Golf
Did you know that Disney has multiple skill leveled golf courses and 2 Mini Golf locations? That means, whether you are looking to do an adult day out with friends OR a family day of putt-putt…you have so many options to choose from!
Lake Buena Vista Golf Course
Oak Trail Golf Course
Palm Golf Course
Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf (Reopening On January 31st!)
Winter Summerland Miniature Golf
Movies under the stars
Disney is known for their classic movies for all ages! And what better way to enjoy them than under a blanket of stars?! Movies Under the Stars are a great way to wind down after a day in the parks or at the pool! You can find out about movie schedules by checking with the Front Desk at your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, or by calling (407) 939-2273. The movie locations and times are always subject to change so always check ahead of time for the most up to date info!
If You Are Still At Home
There’s plenty of ideas for “at home Disney fun” with your family and maybe a close friend or two.
Game/Puzzle nights
Grab a box like the ones below off ShopDisney and set up a space in your home to achieve building an epic Disney puzzle!
Beauty and the Beast Falling in Love Puzzle by Thomas Kinkade

Mickey and Minnie Sweetheart Campfire Puzzle by Thomas Kinkade

Or if puzzles aren’t your thing, Game Nights are a fun family tradition as well!
Disney Parks UNO Card Game

Movie Night!
If you are really into movies, companies such as Netflix have established “watch parties.” Well, now Disney+ has the feature as well, it allows you to enjoy Disney+ content with up to 6 subscribers at one time! It’s called “Group Watch.” If you haven’t tried, I highly suggest it! It’s a great way to enjoy some of the newest content such as “WandaVision” together with family and friends from far away! Make it a weekly thing and take turns picking what to watch!
While you’re at it, maybe consider getting your own popcorn popper to enjoy a classic movie theatre treat! Like this one below!
Pizza Planet Popcorn Popper – Toy Story

Theme Night
If you are into theming, consider purchasing, “Entertaining With Disney: Exceptional events from Mickey Mouse to Moana.” Use your imagination to create your own “Disney” experience at home! It has recipes and decoration ideas to create amazing parties, but you can use this just for your family to theme an entire day or evening at home! My favorite section of the book is “Queen of Hearts garden party!” A perfect start to creating you’re own “Mad Tea Party!” Add in some Disney Music for ambiance and it will be like you are characters in an animated classic!
Not wanting to purchase a full book for theme ideas? Maybe try a Ratatouille theme night at home with these recipes we found and compiled, HERE
Enjoy Disney Park Rides From Your Couch
This YouTube Channel, Virtual WDW allows you to experience Walt Disney World rides in 360° VR. They suggest using a VR headset, but you can still watch the videos without using that feature! They have playlist featuring all 4 Walt Disney Theme parks and more!
Whatever you decide to do to make memories with your friends and family this year, be sure to live in the moment, make every day count and have FUN together!
Well Insiders, that’s all for a little “Take Charge Tuesday!” Let me know in the comments what other resolutions you made this year!
Here’s a quote to inspire you to spend time with the ones you hold dear:
