It’s finally the moment we ALL have been waiting for. It’s been over two years since we’ve been able to get up close and hug our favorite Disney characters at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Just moments ago, Disney officially announced that as early as April 18, they will start reintroducing traditional character meet and greets at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts, Aulani Resort in Hawaii, and aboard Disney Cruise Line. This is absolutely fantastic news, and we know that it will bring so much more magic back to the parks!
Very soon, we will all once again be able to hug Mickey Mouse, get an autograph from our favorite characters, and share a laugh with Goofy. Guests of all ages will once again be able to engage on a special level with characters and create those special “core memories” at the Disney Parks. Also, don’t forget that you may be able to use Genie+ Lightening Lane for some of the Character Meet and Greets at Walt Disney World (you can get more information on that here)!
During the past two years since the pandemic has devastated the world as we know it, Disney has taken a very gradual, intentional approach to health and safety protocols. Recent trends and guidance have provided opportunities for Disney to bring back some of their most beloved magical experiences, such as character greetings and dining experiences. It’s important to note that not all locations will be available immediately; we anticipate reopening in phases throughout the spring and early summer.
Let us know in the comments who you are most excited to meet once the character meet and greets return this spring!
