Orange County Mayor Pursues Executive Order for Universal Orlando

Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings on Friday endorsed a Universal Orlando proposal that would allow its theme parks to begin reopening June 1st. Universal stated June 1-2 would be for Team Members, June 3-4 would be for invited guests, and June 5th would be the date they would open to the general public.

The reopening plan must now be approved by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. It’s expected to be approved by the end of today. A copy of the Mayor’s letter to the Governor can be seen below.

Universal is the first of Orlando’s major theme parks to announce a target date for a reopening since it closed in mid-March because of the coronavirus pandemic.
