After spending time at the brand-new Universal Kids Resort, one thing became very clear—this park was built specifically for young children, and it absolutely succeeds at what it set out to do.
If you’re expecting a scaled-down version of a traditional Universal theme park, you may be surprised. Universal Kids Resort isn’t trying to compete with larger parks full of intense thrill rides. Instead, it offers an experience designed around the interests, comfort, and imagination of younger guests.
Every Detail Was Designed with Kids in Mind
From the moment you walk through the gates, it’s obvious that families with young children were the priority during the design process.
Throughout the park you’ll find:
- Splash pads to cool off in the Texas heat
- Playgrounds and climbing structures
- Interactive play areas
- Family-friendly attractions
- Thoughtful touches, like child seat attachments on restroom toilets

Who Is This Park Best For?
In our opinion, Universal Kids Resort is best suited for children in the toddler to elementary school age range.
If your child is older than about eight years old and mainly enjoys large roller coasters and high-thrill attractions, they may outgrow this park fairly quickly.
However, if your kids love meeting characters, exploring themed lands, interactive play, and family-friendly rides that focus more on storytelling than thrills, they’ll have an amazing time.
It’s Not Trying to Be Epic Universe
We’ve seen a lot of comparisons between Universal Kids Resort and destinations like Epic Universe or The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but those comparisons miss the point.
Universal Kids Resort wasn’t designed to be the biggest or most technologically advanced theme park. It was designed to create a magical first theme park experience for young children.
The lands are colorful, immersive, and filled with characters kids already know and love, making it easy for little ones to feel like they’ve stepped inside their favorite shows and movies.
After spending the day here, we walked away genuinely impressed.
Universal understood its audience and created a park that encourages kids to play, explore, and simply be kids. While older thrill seekers may want more intense attractions, younger families will find plenty to keep everyone entertained.
Most importantly, our kids had an incredible time—and that’s what this park is all about.
