Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be undergoing room refurbishments beginning in April.
Disney has yet to officially announce the refurbishments and their plans for the rooms. They could be circling back to the idea of a “Incredibles-themed” mid-century modern era. Back in 2019 they fully remodeled two rooms on the 8th floor of the main tower. This was a test, nothing came from it…so we thought.
In recent days a permit was spotted, with the name of a major Disney contractor. The permit is for upcoming “general construction” on Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The contractor listed on the permit, could be a sign of a bigger project underway.
Over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, crews are taking roughly the same time period to retheme the rooms to a Moana. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is expected to reopen sometime this summer.
The only other project that we know of at Contemporary is the Cove Pool water play area at Bay Lake Tower. The play area is underway and scheduled to be completed early next month.
Hoar Construction, a major Disney World contractor, has worked on a stack of projects; Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, New Fantasyland and beyond. It is worth noting that it is entirely possible that this permit could be for something else completely.
Cast Members say that there will be limited availability in the Contemporary Resort’s main tower from April 2021 through September 2021. Hopefully reopening in October 2021.
Only time will tell! That’s all for now Insiders!
