After months of speculation, it’s been confirmed that Elizabeth Swann (played by Keira Knightley) will return for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. A new international trailer dropped a few days ago that gives us a quick glimpse of Knightley as Ms. Swann (or should that be Mrs. Turner?) It’s unclear if this is merely in a flashback sequence setting up the new character of Henry Turner (Brenton Thwaites) or if she plays a bigger role in the film. She appears at the 1:05 mark in the video below.
Last week we speculated that Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) has gone down the same dark path as Davy Jones before him, and is somehow responsible for the dead taking over the seas in the new movie. The theory is that Elizabeth Swann is killed, which turns Bloom’s character to “the dark side.” So it’s possible that Knightley’s role in the film is a very small one.
