Yesterday I decided to take a break from the parks and head over to the Epcot Resort area
Just recently I had gone to The Boardwalk with my husband and seen lights and cleaning supplies in the Big River Grill’s windows. They had been closed since the shut down and never reopened. One of the many on the Boardwalk that were silent for months.
Shortly after our visit, Big River Grill opened their doors to guests and I really wanted to go and check it out! I hadn’t been since probably 2013, so I was definitely due up for a visit!
When I arrived, I was promptly assisted. I decided to sit at the bar, I was alone so taking up a table seemed silly. The restaurant wasn’t very busy at all, which was nice. The restaurant is smaller than I remember but I love that you can see their brewery on windows across the back and side wall.
They had partitions for physical distancing at the bar, as well as hand sanitizers everywhere. I think eventually there will be some action sanitizing stations, but for now, it’s just the bottles, which didn’t bother me.
I asked about their brewing schedule and my very informed bartender, Joy, assured me that though brewing isn’t actively happening regularly, it will be soon, usually Mon-Fri. You can actually call ahead of time to find out when they will be doing certain things back there! This way you get an experience while dining. I thought that was cool.
They have 5 beers on their signature handcrafted beers menu currently.
I got their Amber lager, The Vienna Lager. More malty than I usually enjoy, but it was a well made beer! They have a variety in their beers, which I like, some brewery establishments have a favorite and don’t supply something for everyone.
For lunch I got a Chicken Quesadilla, wasn’t feeling like a whole meal, and this serving was perfect! The chicken was shredded inside and it had an abnormal amount of onions…but I like onions, so I’m not complaining.
There’s some items on this menu I’d like to try next time. Overall this was a good experience! I can’t wait to come back with my husband on one of our dates to grab food and watch them brewing up delicious beers!
