It’s officially Halloween time Insiders! If you’re in the park today and want a last chance to try all the amazing seasonal food and treats but don’t know where to start, I was able to try a handful of items while in the parks and have put this review together so you can see what’s worth trying and what I think you can pass up. There are so many items in the parks to try and it’s just about impossible to try them all. Don’t miss the chance to try what you can before the Halloween season is over!
Mickey-shaped Strawberry Chocolate Beignets
These sweet treats at the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square are pretty good! These deep fried doughnuts literally taste like like strawberries and chocolate. They usually put so much powdered sugar in the bag but these ones didn’t come with much so it was hard to cover the doughnut in the powder which was needed to get the strawberry chocolate taste. These were really good as a seasonal item, but I definitely wouldn’t order these year round. The classic ones are the best but it’s always fun to try these different flavored seasonal ones!
Creamy Horchata
The seasonal horchata was really delicious and it’s a great drink to add to your meal over at Rancho del Zocalo. If you like horchata you will definitely love this, and if you’ve never had it before now would be a great time to try it! Horchata is a is a traditional Mexican drink made up of white rice soaked in water. It’s flavored with cinnamon and its sweetened with granulated sugar. They give you the option of adding whipped cream and cinnamon. I added both but could have done without the whipped cream and added way more cinnamon!
Toasted Salsa Roja Chicken Sandwich Combo
This sandwich and soup combo was a really good seasonal menu item at Jolly Holiday. This past month Orange County weather has been weird with lots of cloud cover, cold wind, and random rain storms. Between the weather and the spooky Halloween decor this is a great time for a soup and hot sandwiches! The sandwich has the perfect amount of chicken and cheese and the flavor is really good. The brioche bread was delicious and didn’t get soggy, however I would have preferred sourdough. The soup was the perfect thickness and consistency. It does have a bit of a spicy kick to it! It definitely needed more tortilla strips as a topping because those were excellent in the soup. My only main critique was that the soup is a bit on the salty side. It was good to also dip the sandwich in!
Cookies & Cream Macaron

If you like macarons this Mickey Mummy Cookies and Cream Macaron at Jolly Holiday Bakery is a good one to try. If you like white chocolate and you like cookies and cream, you can’t go wrong! While this macaron was pretty tasty, it was not my favorite one that I’ve tried. The cookies and cream filling is very, very light so the white chocolate almost overwhelms everything else and that is mainly what you taste.
Cruella de Vil Brownie

This Cruella brownie at Jolly Holiday is just ok in my opinion. I have a huge sweet tooth and LOVE chocolate but this one was just a bit much for me. The brownie was moist and is topped with both chocolate mousse and white chocolate mousse. My favorite flavor combination was the white chocolate mousse with a bite of the brownie part. The chocolate mousse and chocolate brownie was a little too rich for me. Some may love really love this sweet treat, but if you’re looking to just get one treat at Jolly Holiday I would go for the macaroon.
Deconstructed Lasagna
This pasta dish over at Alien Pizza Planet is pretty tasty! This dish features campanelle pasta tossed with ricotta cream sauce, topped with bolognese sauce and breadcrumbs. The ricotta was really light but the perfect blend with the sauce. This plate is big enough for two to share especially if you get extra side items. It does not have any spice to it, so I added a little bit of chili flakes for more flavoring and put a little kick into it. I actually enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I added the Garlon Bread as a side, but those were just ok. They were very lightly season and so they were very plain. They definitely needed more garlic salt/seasoning! Overall I would definitely recommend this season pasta dish if you are heading over to Alien Pizza Planet.
Halloween Alien Macaron
The Halloween Alien Macaron at Alien Pizza Planet was probably the best seasonal treat I tried at Disneyland this year. I liked it a lot more than the Mummy Macaron which is surprising because I usually go for chocolate before tart fruity items. The macron is filled with blackberry buttercream and lemon curd. My only critique is that there is too much lemon right in the middle. It is very tart and since it’s in the middle there’s hardly any chocolate you get in the bite, so there’s no chocolate to balance out the tartness. I basically ended up eating around the center and everything around it was amazing. The lemon with the blackberry buttercream with a bite of the chocolate on the cookie part was out of this world. It will definitely have you going “Oooooo”!
All in all I have to say that I tried some pretty good Halloween seasonal eats and treats this year at Disneyland. I think that the food options are better at Disneyland but the sweet treat items are better over at Disney’s California Adventure. You can read my reviews on some of the seasonal menu options over at that park here.
