If you have yet to dine at the Magic Key Terrace since they did a refresh, you should make a reservation asap! I had the chance to eat there one evening this week and was excited to check it out since it was renovated and just reopened last year. It’s a private, tucked-away spot on the second floor above Wine Country Trattoria, and the area features all-new furniture, lighting, tile, beautiful stained glass, and wall murals. It also features vibrant and gorgeous colors, such as splashes of saturated blues, turquoise, and greens. It’s really just a lovely, laid-back lounge with epic, sweeping views of Paradise Gardens and Carsland and some delicious food and drink options!
You either have to be a Magic Key holder or go with someone who is a Key holder to dine at this spot. You check in at the booth to the right of the entrance of Wine Country Trattoria, and then you will take a short trek up the stairs into an intimate little oasis. This place is very popular, so the service can be a bit on the slower side if it is packed, so fair warning, this is a spot you will most likely want to kick back and enjoy your time at!
I have dined here once before (before the refresh) and was able to try many different items. This time, I tried some newer items they put on the menu not too long ago, and everything was delicious!
I tried the Monte Cristo Corn Dogs because I absolutely love the Monte Cristo sandwich over at Blue Bayou. This does sound like a bizarre concoction, but it was a lot of fun to try, and it was different. The corn dog features Ham & Monterey Jack with Strawberry-Thai Chile Jam, Fresh Berry Compote, and Red Wine-Grape Jelly Caviar served with Pommes Frites.
This one does not have a hot dog in the middle; instead, it is filled with cheese and cubes of ham. It is quite delicious and does remind me of the sandwich, however, I will say I wish they had put a different kind of ham in there. The cubes make it hard to get a bite of ham in every bite, so in some bites, you may just get a lot of cheese. These definitely need more powdered sugar and berry compote on top. The Strawberry-Thai Chile Jam almost makes it a bit soggy if you don’t eat it quickly enough, and while it is tasty, there is a bit of a kick to it, so beware! And last but not least, the garlic parmesan fries are to die for!
The next thing I tried, which I have heard nothing but good things about, was the Bone-Marrow Mac and Cheese. Again, sounds like an iffy dish, right? This is quite possibly the best Mac & Cheese I have ever had at a Disney park. Even kids will like it if they are not stuck on the usual Kraft style. The noodles are super tender, the cheese is tasty but super light and not too oily. The sourdough crouton is also a perfect accompaniment and is great to eat with a bite of noodles or by itself (it has a really tasty garlic salt on it!).
To wash all this delicious food down, I tried the Heimlich Chew Chew Juice (Non-Alcoholic). This drink features Minute Maid Lemonade with Granny Smith Apple Syrup and fresh Watermelon, and man, it is tasty! I’m not very big into watermelon-flavored drinks, but this was definitely a fun one to try. It’s very refreshing, even though it is a bit sugary. The combined flavors are very fun and work well together. It’s also very instagrammable too!
All in all, this is a perfect spot dedicated to Magic Key holders. It’s nice to have a Club 33-like spot to go to that has a great view of the park with amazing ambiance. It has true California vibes and it’s an amazing spot to lounge and relax after treking through the park. The food items seem to be a hit for the most part, and all of the drinks are of course fun to try. If you are a Magic Key holder, be sure you don’t miss out on taking advantage of enjoying this very magical dining experience meant just for you!
