Hi Insiders! We went to the opening day of the Touch of Disney event at Disney’s California Adventure in Anaheim, California yesterday. We hope you had so much fun following along on Facebook and Instagram!
Yesterday was a big day for the Anaheim theme park as it has been shut down for a year now. It felt so magical to be back in the park after all this time! We wanted to give all of you a review of everything we experienced and some tips that will hopefully help you out if you plan on attending the event sometime in the next month as well!
Your Touch of Disney ticket includes free parking at the Mickey and Friends parking structure. It is important to note that the parking structure does not open until 11:30am, a half hour before the noon event, so if you want to get there even earlier than that you will have to pay for parking at the Simba parking lot. You can also park down the street at the Anaheim Gardenwalk parking structure and walk over (about a ten minute walk to the park). We highly recommend this if there’s a long line for the Simba lot.
We got to the Mickey and Friends parking structure at 11:30am and it took about 45 minutes to park.
Be sure to wear some good walking shoes Insiders, as there will be a lot of walking involved! The tram that usually takes you from the parking structure to Downtown Disney is still shut down due to COVID-19. You will have to walk the tram route all the way down to the park area where you will get in line to get into the park. We got into the park right about 1:00pm. The total time from parking to get into the park was an hour and a half. Of course you will walk allll around the park to taste all the yummy food, take some good pictures and take it all in, so you will definitely want to be comfortable!
Alright, now let’s get to one of the reasons we’re so excited about this event in the first place…the food! Your Touch of Disney ticket includes a $25 gift card for food that you will receive at the gate entrance to the park. You can use it toward food and drink items (excluding alcohol!). Helpful tip for all you Insiders: you will want to mobile order in most cases! Some of the stands even require that you mobile order as they are trying to encourage touch-less ordering. If you’re unsure how to do this, we got you covered!
You will want to open up the Disneyland App, tap the magnifying glass search icon and search for the location you’d like to mobile order from.
From there tap on Order Food, and it will give you windows of different times to choose from.
We enjoyed the Chili Con Queso at the Cozy Cone Motel at Cars Land; if you love chili you can’t go wrong with this food item!
We also tried the Monte Cristo’s that are normally served over at Blue Bayou in Disneyland. These deep fried ham and Swiss sandwiches were all I had been dreaming about for the past year and they did not disappoint! You can find these at Smokejumpers Grill near Grizzly Peak.
We also had the Cheese Plate and Mimosa flight over at Uncork California Marketplace by Pixar Pier. The Mimosa flight comes with three different flavors:
- Mojave Mimosa
Sparkling Wine, Peach Juice and Raspberry Syrup (my personal favorite!)
Sparkling Wine, Lavender and fresh Lemon Juice
- Pacific Mimosa
Sparkling Wine, Coconut, Blue Curaçao and Pineapple Juice
There are so many food and beverage items to choose from, you will definitely want to come on an empty stomach!
One of the other reasons the Touch of Disney event is so magical is because…the characters come out to play! You are not able to take the traditional pictures with them, but they come out to dance, wave, and engage with Guests at a safe social distance! We had an absolute blast watching Max and Goofy fish and dance at the Pacific Wharf.
We got to see a glimpse of Donald on a balcony at the Grand Californian Hotel by Grizzly Rapids!
Even Joy (and Sadness!) made an appearance at the ‘Inside Out‘ Emotional Whirlwind! Isn’t she just darling?!
All in all it was such a great day Insiders! Walking around the park, seeing the characters, eating the food we’ve been missing for a year, and hearing the Disney music around the park made it such a magical day. One thing’s for sure…I’ll be singing “Eye to Eye” from A Goofy Movie for days (you’ll see what I’m talking about if you go to the event yourself)!
I truly hope you get a chance to enjoy the event yourselves and if you don’t I hope you enjoyed following along with our adventure through the park!
