Disney’s Boardwalk is a wonderful and nostalgic area reminiscent of summer’s past when we would walk or bike down the beach boardwalk, play games, eat delicious food, etc. There’s so much to do at Disney’s Boardwalk that you could spend an entire day or two exploring and having a fun day out. Whether you explore or end up in the parks, you are sure to work up a large appetite, and if you are in the mood for Italian, you’ll want to head over to Trattoria al Forno!

This casual dining spot offers both breakfast and dinner, and I had the pleasure of dining here for dinner during my recent visit to Walt Disney World (their Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast is still temporarily unavailable). Trattoria al Forno will treat your taste buds on a tour of Italy with a tempting array of regional specialties and crowd-pleasing classics. Showcasing an artisanal menu, this warm ‘n’ cozy trattoria celebrates the diversity of Italian cuisine with authentic ingredients and recipes hailing from Milan to Rome.
Our party was given delicious warm Italian bread with oil and vinegar to start with, and we also ordered the Insalata Caprese as an appetizer. You can never go wrong with bread, olive oil, and vinegar, so of course, that was absolutely delicious. The Caprese was delicious as well, although this was served with pesto instead of the usual balsamic vinegar. Everyone else loved the pesto, but as I am not a huge pesto fan (I know there’s something wrong with me!), I felt as though it wasn’t the best I’ve ever had. I did, however, LOVE that they used big Vine tomatoes along with more petite cherry tomatoes; it was nice having a mix!

For my entree, I had the Shrimp Pappardelle. I am a huge seafood lover and was very excited about this dish. It was absolutely delicious, however, I did think that the Pappardelle noodles were a bit too wide and thick for this type of dish. Next time I would see if I could request linguine noodles or something similar. This dish features Artichokes, Golden Tomato, Capers, and White Wine-Butter Sauce. The combination of everything is completely out of this world, and aside from not being a huge fan of the noodles, I loved it and would order it again!

Our table also couldn’t decide whether to order pizza or pasta for dinner, and we decided, why not both?! We each got our own pasta entree and also split the Pizze Margherita. I will say I was a bit disappointed in the pizza. It wasn’t very rich in flavor, and the pizza crust was a bit thicker than a usual authentic Italian pizza. There was hardly any sauce, and the cheese was a bit too cooked. It wasn’t awful, but I just wasn’t a fan, so I would recommend sticking with pasta if you can’t make up your mind between the two!

The rest of our party all ordered the Parmigiana di Pollo (Chicken Parmesan). They insisted it’s the best Chicken Parmesan on Walt Disney World property, and they could not stop raving about it. This dish features Breaded Chicken Breast, Parmesan-Reggiano, Provolone, and Rustic Tomato Sauce. Yum! One girl in our party also had the allergy-friendly version of this dish and said it’s the only Chicken Parmesan she’s found on Disney property where they actually bread the chicken!

After all that food, we had absolutely no room for dessert, but if you have room when you go, they have an excellent-looking dessert menu! The menu includes items such as Tiramisù, Panna Cotta, House-made Gelato, and more! Trattoria al Forno also has an extensive wine list that has the proud distinction of being 100% Italian. All featured wines—over 60 offerings by the bottle and more than 25 wines by the glass—come from historic wine regions, including Tuscany, Veneto, and Piedmont. Aficionados of Chiantis, super Tuscans, Prosecco, Pinot Grigio, and Moscato can count on being well provided for here. Signature cocktails and Italian beers and sodas round out the drink menu, offering something to please every palate. Saluti!
This is a wonderful Italian eatery at Disney’s Boardwalk, especially if you have a big appetite! If you’re looking for another Italian restaurant inside a Disney Park, we recommend Tony’s inside Magic Kingdom. You can read our review on the “Lady and the Tramp”-themed restaurant here.
