Any 90’s Disney kid will tell you that they secretly wished their father was a scientist who worked out of their home’s attic, who invented a machine to shrink things. We also secretly wished for a pet ant named “Anty,” and wanted to sleep inside a giant Lego. So when the news of a reboot came to be, I was excited to here more details. Today, we got the biggest piece of news yet!
It was announced today that actor, Rick Moranis will reprise his role as Wayne Szalinski, in the all new Honey I Shrunk The Kids reboot! The new filmed is titled Shrunk and will directed by the original’s helmer Joe Johnston.
But that’s not all boys and girls, as if it couldn’t get any better than Rick Moranis, it was also announced that the reboot will also star Josh Gad as Wayne’s grown up son. This is not a joke. It’s real, it’s happening, and we are so excited!
Shrunk will take place decades after the original but will recreate the premise, with Josh Gad as Rick’s now grown son, Nick Szalinski, accidentally shrinking his own kids, setting up the new story.
Gad took to his twitter to say the following: “To say it is a dream come true to once again see #RickMoranis on the big screen is the understatement of the decade.”
Be sure to follow The Kingdom Insider as we bring you any updates regarding Shrunk, including a release date.
