According to reports, a new Jurassic Park or Jurassic World themed roller coaster is slated for Universal’s Island of Adventure.
Carnival games and vendor kiosks in the Jurassic Park area were removed last week, and construction walls went up. According to WFTV, the unnamed project matches a permit that was filed in May for “Project 791.”
That matches work described on a demolition permit filed with the city of Orlando in May for Project 791 in that 1.36-acre area. Contractor documents indicate the project includes construction of “a new attraction” and estimates that demolition and construction will take 1 1/2 years.
WFTV goes on to state that they’ve reviewed documents showing a roller coaster track layout, which they’ve reproduced below.
Adding to the speculation about Jurassic World coming to Universal Orlando was this curious tweet from the official Universal Orlando Resort account.
We've got some exciting plans and look forward to more exciting details to come!

It’s very likely that the coaster would be Jurassic World and not Jurassic Park, as that is the current franchise. Last year it was announced that the Jurassic Park attraction in Universal Studios Hollywood was going extinct to make way for a new Jurassic World ride or overlay. It’s very likely that Universal Orlando will follow suit.
Universal Orlando is Gearing Up to Take On Disney World Head-to-Head
This is just one of many “growing pains” that Universal Orlando is experiencing as the park doubles its efforts to take on Disney in the coming years. With many new hotels opening soon, and rumors swirling around Super Nintendo World, new Harry Potter attractions and a third gate, it’s very possible that families will soon visit Orlando primarily for Universal, and they will become a legitimate threat to Disney’s theme park dominance.
Stay tuned to The Kingdom Insider for more on this attraction and the “theme park wars” as we hear it.
