The most recent episode of DuckTales offered a cameo appearance by Darkwing Duck. Fans have been waiting for this since it was teased that he would be in the show.
A lot of people were disappointed when they made him more of an Easter egg than a character.

Some fans were just thrilled to have an appearance of Darkwing Duck.
“I am the terror that flaps in the night, I am the lone roller skate base of villainy’s staircase. I AM DARKWING DUCK!”

I don’t know if they have plans to have a “DW-Centered” episode, but even if they don’t, I don’t care. It was just great seeing Darkwing on TV again, even if it was just a cameo!#Ducktales #DarkwingDuck pic.twitter.com/q61OWFVN96

Many fans were upset when he became a television show clip within a television show.
The #DarkwingDuck centric intro to this last #Ducktales episode was both incredible and deeply saddening. So good to hear @Jimcummingsacme get dangerous again but it was clearly just an awesome Easter Egg and not a spin-off setup like I was so desperately hoping. Dreams. Crushed.

I waited for years (or most of my life?) for the #DarkwingDuck return in the new #DuckTales and then… they ruined it. WOW. The beginning was SOO exciting and then they reveal it’s a…. show in their world too? You fools, you had an INCREDIBLE spin-off / crossover opportunity. pic.twitter.com/OJJ4aEwMvJ

So it appeared the wished for resurgence of Darkwing was shot down. But then…Frank Angones, co-producer, writer, and story editor on DuckTales gave fans renewed hope.
you: a passionate fan justifiably concerned that #DuckTales blew a beloved character on an easter egg and this is the last we’ll hear of him and there’s no way it’s a setup for something cool that an obsessive fellow fan has been thinking about since he was a kid.

Darkwing Duck is one of those shows that fans keep begging Disney to bring back. There were comics from Boom! Studios and Joe’s Books. They were written by Aaron Sparrow and drawn by James Silvani. The comics took place one year after the end of the original show. Sadly, the books were cancelled a couple of years ago.
Clearly there is a demand for the character and I hope they do a lot more with him and his universe. It seems like there may be plans to do just that. Oh and bringing back a comic with better marketing might be a good idea too.
What do you think? Would you like to see Darkwing Duck come back? Comment and let us know!

Honored to be a some fan.
When they announced that Darkwing would make a cameo, my first response was that they better not screw it up and make him some sort of TV show character.
*Facepalm*
Because of that, I guess part of me expected them to do this, but I wasn’t emotionally prepared for it.
I was actually rather crushed, to be honest.
I think what upsets me more than anything is that if they do end up trying for a Darkwing revival series or attempt to bring him in as a legit character in the Ducktales universe, I wont be able to respect it.
He’s been marked as a fictional character BY fictional characters.
I understand that it’s weird to be upset over a cartoon character being a cartoon character in a cartoon show, as if it somehow makes him less real, but I do feel that it cheapens him.
They could have just as easily done the exact same scene, but made it a TV report rather than a TV show.
Darkwing could have still had toys and posters and Launchpad could have still been a fan.
It’s sad that the way they went is probably the best we will ever get.
I’m just glad someone else felt the same way I did.
