Stitch’s Great Escape will once again be open starting next week. Formerly The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter, the Tomorrowland attraction has been relegated to “seasonal” operations since October 2016, which is usually the kiss of death for a Disney attraction.
Stitch’s Great Escape will be open from April 10, 2017 through April 19, 2017 for the week of Easter. It will operate from 10am to 6pm on those days.
If you’ve actually missed your dose of Stitch, now is your chance. And it might be the last one you get.
Wreck-It Ralph Re-Theme Imminent?
Rumors have been circulating for months that Stitch’s Great Escape is soon going to be either re-themed or gutted completely to make room for a Wreck-It Ralph themed attraction. Allegedly it will take place in the Sugar Rush racing game that Vanellope hails from.
Disney has not confirmed this rumor yet, but it would would gel with other rumors about a massive (and much needed) Tomorrowland overhaul. There’s also a Wreck-It Ralph sequel around the corner, so having an attraction to capitalize on that makes makes sense.
Lilo & Stitch is almost 15 years old, and the subsequent TV series has long been off the air.
