A robotic Donald Trump will be coming to Walt Disney World. And he’ll be speaking.
After months of speculation as to how Disney would handle the polarizing President in its Hall of Presidents attraction, the word from Disney is that Trump will indeed have a speaking role. It’s been a tradition for incoming Presidents to be added to the attraction via Audio-Animatronics, and to have a speaking part.
Since his inauguration, it’s been believed that if President Trump is added to the attraction, he may not be speaking. The Hall of Presidents has been closed since January, and was expected to re-open in time for the Fourth of July. Disney is now saying the attraction’s opening has been delayed until later in 2017.
Earlier this month, Disney CEO Bob Iger left his position on the President’s advisory council in protest over Trump’s decision to pull the United States out of the Paris climate accord. The internet rumor mill speculated that there may be some hard feelings between the company and this Administration, calling for a different course of action in regards to the show.
In February, protesters unsuccessfully petitioned to keep President Trump out of the attraction.
There is currently no date set for the re-opening of The Hall of Presidents.
