On May 14th, Universal’s CityWalk had its limited opening, after months of being closed due to COVID-19. Despite some pushback and many voicing their opinion on social media that they think it’s too soon to open, CityWalk has seen its fair share of guests over the last few days.
One of the questions many have had, especially when discussing Walt Disney World, is how will character interactions look? Twitter user, @NITRO23, was at CityWalk provided us with some insight to character interactions. Below are some pictures and a video from his Twitter, offering us a glimpse into the new-normal for theme parks.

Many of you are familiar with Toothsome’s Chocolate Emporium, and its characters, Professor Doctor Penelope Tibeaux-Tinker Toothsome and her robot Jacques. Penelope and Jacques often walk around Toothsomes, adding to the fun of the entire experience. Penelope stays completely in character and is full of 19th-century charm.
@Nitro230 also added several shots from the outside of Toothsomes of Penelope and Jacques, greeting guests while also practicing social distancing.
You’ll notice Penelope’s brown face mask, designed to match the colors of her wardrobe. Both her and Jacques are socializing with others, but from behind the roped-off area.
As per Universal Orlando, Toothsome Chocolate Emporium’s Dessert Foundry and Candy Smith areas are open. The restaurant remains closed.
