Top 7 Reasons To Stay At Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort – Top 7 Reasons This Disney Mom Stays Here

  1. Theming

If you love touches of Disney but enjoy luxury and the sense of really being on vacation at a waterside destination, Disney’s Yacht Club is the perfect place for you. You will have lots of fun spotting all the subtle hidden Mickeys. What will stand out most though is the rich New England extravagance, nautical overlay, and lavish decor. Guest rooms have had a recent refurbishment and have been given a more modern feel which truly makes this resort deluxe in its accommodations. The Yacht Club Resort has a more formal feel than the seaside vibe of its sister resort, The Beach Club, right next door. If you’re lucky enough to be here during the holidays, you will marvel at the tall Christmas tree and intricate model winter railroad set up each year!

  1. Proximity… to everything!

Disney’s Yacht Club is close to almost everything! It is connected to Disney’s Beach Club Resort and beautifully situated right next to the Swan and Dolphin. It’s across the pond from Disney’s Boardwalk and just a short walk to Epcot’s World Showcase. It’s a mere boat ride to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and you can also walk to Fantasia’s Gardens Mini Golf too – does it get any more convenient? Additionally, there is complimentary Disney Bus transportation to/from Magic Kingdom, Disney Springs and Animal Kingdom.  What I love about this convenient spot for families with young children is that you can also catch firework views from the marina at night, which is great when your kids can’t hang out too late past bed time. Another plus us you don’t have to fold your stroller for the complimentary boat transportation to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. As a mom of two preschool aged children, this right here wins me over! Imagine being walking distance to parks so you can get there early for rope drop, then return to the resort for a swim or nap, before heading back out for dinner, rides and nighttime shows? It really does make Disney tour plans easier and most time efficient when staying here thanks to the Yacht Club’s proximity to all this fun entertainment!

  1. Pools

The Yacht and Beach Club are the ONLY resorts on property with this amount of water-play activities. Here you’ll find a sand-bottom pool that has zero-entry (so kids can walk freely in and out of shallow waters), a Pirate Ship-themed slide, a lazy river AND additional quiet pools. When you’re traveling with small children and toddlers who aren’t yet strong swimmers, but you still want to have some relaxing pools days, the zero-entry water area is the perfect spot to grab a chair, let the kids play and unwind without fearing an accidental fall into deep water off a sharp and unexpected pool edge. The pools also offer complimentary life vests in several sizes for children’s safety, as well as lifeguards on duty. Our family has often forgone the water park ticket when staying here simply because the pool area is so fun and versatile for all ages to enjoy. Cast members hold games and poolside activities for families during the day and there’s also Hurricane Hannah’s – Stormalong Bay’s quick service dining option with delicious drinks, wraps, burgers, fries and salads on the menu.

  1. Recreation at the resort and nearby

Looking for fun family experiences on non-park days? No need to look very far at Disney’s Yacht Club. Right outside the resort you’ll find the Bayside Marina which is open daily from 11am – 5pm. Here you can rent and drive a Sea Raycer (kids 12 and up can drive alone), fish, or enjoy a chartered cruise. For parents looking for a quiet start to their day, you can enjoy Yoga by the Beach every Friday at 7am. You’ll also find the Ship Shape fitness center to fit in your daily work out, the New Balance Running Path, tennis and volley ball courts and an arcade. There are campfires and movies in the dark provided to guests regularly and even a nighttime kids-only Pirate Cruise, so parents can sneak away for a date night nearby! We love taking a shortcut through the Swan and Dolphin area to walk over to Fantasia Garden’s Mini Golf for a little friendly family competition! And if you just want your little kids to burn off some steam, take them over the Boardwalk’s dry playground by the main pool, or the Swan and Dolphin playground for some slides and climbing.

  1. Dining

Whether its fine dining, quick service or milkshakes, you’ll find it all at the Yacht Club Resort.

Sit down dining

The Yachtsman Steakhouse and Ale & Compass Restaurant are great for formal family meals and adults-only date nights!

Cape May Café – Delicious buffet meals plus character breakfast with Minnie and the gang dressed in their beach-day attire.

Beaches & Cream Soda Shop – Head here with an empty stomach and some friends to enjoy the Kitchen Sink ice cream sundae, plus a menu of favorite diner-esque foods.

Ale & Compass Lounge, Crew’s Cup Lounge and Martha’s Vineyard all offer bar menu’s as well as delicious alcoholic beverages to unwind after a chaotic park day.

Quick Service

The Market at Ale & Compass, the Beach Club Marketplace and Hurricane Hannah’s are great places to swing by with the kids for quick meals that are sure to satisfy.

*Room service is also available

*Not to mention all the dining options on The Boardwalk and at the Swan & Dolphin which are all accessible by foot or water taxi!

  1. Extras

At Disney’s Yacht Club, you’ll find many opportunities to upgrade your experience or enhance your stay with extras. Of the many offered here, I have found the following to be most useful and enjoyable while on a family vacation.

Childcare services- You have the option of in-room baby sitting and the Pirate Cruise (for children ages 4-12 years old).

Salon and Spa Services- Everyone is familiar with Senses Spa at the Grand Floridian and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resorts. But did you know there are spa services located at Ship Shape Salon and Massage Fitness Center at the Yacht and Beach Club? You can get a custom massage, a couples massage, a trim, blow out, Storybook Style Makeover, a manicure and pedicure, and basically everything in between right here at the resort! There’s no need to travel to the other resorts for pampering or a quick glow-up while vacationing, once again saving you time and the need to travel off property to a separate location.

Club Level- When you upgrade to a Club Level stay at Disney’s Yacht Club (also known as “Staying Concierge”), you gain access to The Regatta Club Lounge which offers five small dining opportunities each day. You’ll find coffee, tea, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages available, as well as Hor D’oeuvres, small bites, sweets and desserts throughout the morning, afternoon and early evening. In addition to the food and beverages, you’ll have access to a dedicated concierge staff (by both phone and text), and the option to purchase extra FastPass+ reservations for $50 per person per day (ask about ride restrictions).

  1. Shopping

You can purchase Walt Disney World Parks merchandise and resort wear (like Lilly Pulitzer and Vineyard Vines brands) in the two gift shops onsite at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club- The Beach Club Market Place and the Market at Ale & Compass. You’ll also find snacks, drinks and packaged items available for purchase to keep in your room during your stay. Additionally, you can stroll down across a small bridge and venture into Disney’s Boardwalk area for a little more spending at The Screen Door General Store, Wyland Galleries for artistic beauties, and the ESPN Zone gift shop! The Swan and Dolphin also has specialty shops open to guests and is a short walk away.

So, there you have it- the top 7 reasons this Disney Mom LOVES Disney’s Yacht Club Resort! While it is hard to pick a favorite resort on Disney property (since so many exceed expectations), this one has certainly taken up a special place in our hearts. Consider Disney’s Yacht Club for your next stay at Walt Disney World!
