‘Toy Story 4’ Will Have New Paper Doll Character

We’ve had lots of Pixar news today from the Pixar Panel at D23, in Anaheim, CA.  During this panel John Lasseter told us about the upcoming Incredibles 2 and a yet untitled “suburban fantasy film.”   Today he also announced that he will not be co-directing the new Toy Story 4 film with Josh Cooley, but instead announced that it will be directed solely by Josh Cooley (Riley’s First Date).  Lasseter did say that he will be staying on as executive producer.

Will that be the only change coming?

Previously it was mentioned that the new film would be more of a romantic comedy story between Woody and Bo-Peep instead of a direct sequel to the first three films.  But with changing creative teams, we can’t be certain if that story is staying.

But, panel attendees did get to see a video of a “day in the life of a Pixar Studios director” which included a quick look at a new paper doll character named “Lulu.”

I love that they would use a paper doll character.  My mother loved paper dolls as a child and I was given them when I was a little girl.  I grew up making my own paper dolls for my sister too.  I actually wanted to be a fashion designer before becoming an art teacher and I loved to create doll “fashions.”  My daughter grew up loving paper dolls because my mother made sure she bought her some.   We would all be thrilled with a paper doll character.

I wish I had the clip to show you.  If I find it I will add it to this story.
