If you haven’t already heard, Florida Governor DeSantis announced this week that he is lifting pandemic restrictions! Orlando theme parks are now responding and making changes to their health screening checkpoints.
Disney has already responded stating that they will continue to maintain their current health and safety measures at this time, including face-covering requirements. Today they announced that are going to start phasing out their onsite temperature screening for Cast Members beginning May 8 and later Disney World Guests on May 16, 2021.
Now, Universal Studios Florida is hopping on the same train and they have made an announcement on their website stating that they too will be removing the temperature checks upon entry and they are also relaxing their social distancing guidelines from 6 feet to 3 feet starting May 6!
The official announcement on their website states:
We’re excited to enhance your Universal experience with the latest safety updates from local health and government officials. There are no more temperature checks upon entry. And Social Distancing between travel parties is now reduced to three feet (1 meter). Still, most of our original safety protocols remain unchanged—from wearing face coverings across our Resort to our ongoing dedication to cleanliness and sanitization.
While guidelines are starting to relax as more people get vaccinated, COVID-19 safety guidelines still remain in effect such as wearing a face mask at all times unless you are actively eating or drinking. We expect that this will be the start of “getting back to normal” as we head into the summer months!
What are your thoughts on Universal Orlando making these changes to their health and safety guidelines?
