Parks and Tickets: Know Before You Go
Walt Disney World theme parks will soon begin a phased reopening. Here’s what to know before you visit.
We’re committed to a responsible reopening—and we’ve made some important updates based on guidance from health authorities, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and appropriate government agencies.
Though it may be different from the last time you visited, these new measures are designed to offer a magical Disney experience in a responsible way.
What You’ll Need
To enter a Walt Disney World theme park, each Guest must have:
- A theme park reservation—made via the new Disney Park Pass system—along with valid park admission for the same park on the same day
- Face coverings for each Guest age 2 and up—which must be worn in all public areas, except while eating
Also, it’s highly recommended to have:
- The latest version of the My Disney Experience app on your mobile device, with location services and notifications enabled
- A cashless or contactless form of payment
Temperature Screening
During the initial reopening period, Guests will undergo a temperature screening prior to park entry. Based on guidance from health authorities, anyone displaying a temperature of 100.4 F or above will be directed to an additional location for rescreening and assistance. Those with temperatures of 100.4 F or above will not be allowed entry; those in their party will not be allowed entry either.
Reservations for Park Entry
When the parks reopen, park attendance will be managed through the Disney Park Pass system, which Guests will use to make theme park reservations. To enter a park, both a park reservation AND valid admission for the same park on the same date are required for each person in your party ages 3 and up (limit one park per day).
At this time, Guests will be able to select one park per day; visiting more than one park per day will be temporarily unavailable upon the reopening of the theme parks due to attendance limitations. For the time being, all Guests will be required to make a reservation in advance for each park entry. If you have a multi-day ticket, you will be required to make a park reservation for each date of your visit.
Tickets and Passes
At this time, new ticket sales and new annual pass sales are temporarily paused. Current Annual Passholders may still renew their pass. Existing ticket holders and Annual Passholders will be able to make reservation requests before new tickets and annual passes are sold.
Additional details will be shared with existing ticket holders soon.
By June 28, all Guests will be able to purchase new Disney Resort hotel packages and theme park tickets and make their park reservations for arrivals starting in 2021 as our phased reopening continues. Guests will be able to view park availability online prior to purchasing their tickets. Please note that park reservations are limited in number and subject to availability. Availability can change until the reservation is finalized.

Attractions and Entertainment
To accommodate physical distancing, some experiences will be temporarily paused when the parks initially reopen, including:
- Parades and nighttime spectaculars
- Character Greetings
- Playgrounds
Our Characters will still be in the parks to entertain and delight our Guests. Additionally, you’ll be able to experience many favorite attractions and dozens of entertainment offerings.
From special cavalcades down the Magic Kingdom park parade route and friends sailing the waterways of Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park to processions along World Showcase promenade at EPCOT and motorcades on Hollywood Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, each area will come to life throughout the day. You never know when a party of your pals may come by, so be prepared for plenty of surprises!
Note: Some experiences may be modified, limited in capacity and subject to availability or closure.
Physical Distancing Measures
We’ve made some temporary adjustments that include limited-contact Guest Services to promote a responsible and enjoyable environment for everyone. These include:
- Physical Barriers: Physical barriers have been added in select places where it is difficult to maintain strict physical distancing guidelines.
- Signage: Directional signage has been installed to assist Guests to responsibly move throughout the property. Additionally, ground markings will help promote proper physical distancing when queuing is needed at a location.
- Cashless Transactions: At this time, it is recommended all Guests use cashless payment options, including debit cards, credit cards and Disney Gift Cards. Guests can also opt for contactless payment options—such as mobile wallets—or use cash to purchase a Disney Gift Card at Guest Relations and select merchandise locations. Disney Resort hotel Guests can also use MagicBands to charge their purchase to their Disney Resort hotel folio.
- Mobile Order: A feature of the My Disney Experience app, mobile order service enables you to order ahead and save time at select dining locations.
Other Guest Services and experiences may be updated. Please check back for details.
Enhanced Cleaning
We’ve increased cleaning in high-traffic areas such as public elevators and escalators, handrails, benches, tables, handles, restrooms and more. Additionally, Walt Disney World Resort will open with hand sanitizer and hand-washing locations, and Guests are highly encouraged to use these while visiting.
Merchandise Locations
In select merchandise locations throughout Walt Disney World Resort, Guests will continue to discover favorite Disney items, with some modifications to the shopping experience that will help us manage capacity and foster physical distancing.
- New Product Launches: New collection product launches and limited-edition merchandise will not be available for in-person purchases at Walt Disney World Resort until further notice. Guests can find these items on shopDisney, subject to availability.
- Pin Trading: We will continue to offer Guests the opportunity to pin trade with Cast Members through the use of pin boards in select locations. Cast pin trading with lanyards will not be available at this time to maintain physical distancing.
- Delivery Option: Package delivery to the front of our theme parks or to Disney Resort hotels will be suspended. However, shipping merchandise to Guests’ homes in the US will continue to be available. Certain restrictions apply.
- Dressing Rooms: For the time being, dressing rooms will not be available.
- Returns: In-person returns of merchandise will be permitted upon the reopening of our merchandise locations.
Disney PhotoPass Service
To promote cleanliness, physical distancing and reduced contact, you will notice some temporary adjustments to Disney PhotoPass Service to provide an enjoyable environment for everyone:
- Handling Guest’s Personal Devices: Disney PhotoPass photographers will not handle Guests’ personal devices such as cellphones and cameras.
- Photo Prop Usage: Where photo props are in use, they will be thoroughly cleaned between Guests. For select props, your photographer may request that you stand next to or behind the prop without making contact with it. In these scenarios, your photographer will endeavor to capture your photos with the best angles and perspectives in mind.
- Photo Linking: Before the photographer takes your photo, please have your MagicBand or Card ready for the photographer to scan so they can quickly link your photos to your account. Photographers will keep as much distance as possible during this process.
