Hurricane Ian is already affecting Florida significantly, and in response, Walt Disney World has begun making some closure announcements. The hurricane has turned Eastward and will most likely make landfall in Florida early tomorrow, and strong winds and rain will precede through next Wednesday. If you have a trip planned this upcoming week at Walt Disney World, here are some updates you should know about.
Walt Disney World Resorts
The following resorts will temporarily close from Wednesday, Sept. 28, through Friday, Sept. 30. These resorts will contact you if you have a current or upcoming reservation:
- Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
- Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
- Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
- Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Change and cancellation fees imposed by Disney will be waived for check-in dates of Monday, Sept. 26 through Tuesday, October 4. Most room-only and vacation packages can be modified or canceled (you can reach out to your Academy Travel Agent for assistance).
Walt Disney World Theme Parks
The theme parks are currently running under normal operations; however, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will temporarily close from Wednesday, Sept. 28 through Thursday, Sept. 29 (Disney’s Blizzard Beach is currently closed).
Winter Summerland Miniature Golf and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf will temporarily close Wednesday, Sept. 28, and Thursday, Sept.29.
Dining, Special Events, and Magical Extras
Effective immediately, Walt Disney World will not enforce cancelation policies until further notice for dining and other experiences, such as Savi’s Workshop and Bibbidi bobbidi Boutique.
Hoo-Dee-Doo Musical Revue performances have been canceled on Sept. 28-30. If you have a reservation for those dates, your reservation will be canceled, and you will be refunded.
We will continue reporting more on further closures as Disney makes announcements!
