Why You Should Visit Disneyland During the Disney100 Celebration

While Disneyland is a fun destination to visit any time. you’ll never get another opportunity to visit during the Disney100 celebration, which honors 100 years of animation for the Walt Disney Company! There are many special offerings during the celebration that have guests flocking to the West Coast to take part! Here’s why 2023- early 2024 is the BEST time to book your first (or 10th) trip to Disneyland Resort!

Magic Happens Parade. We were SO excited to see this parade return to Disneyland Park! Todrick Hall’s work on this performance is phenomenal, and accompanies some of the most beautiful parade floats we have ever seen! You can catch this parade at 3:30 pm, and again at 6:30 pm. (showtimes listed on the Disneyland app)

Wondrous Journeys. Go on an epic adventure through 100 years of Walt Disney Animation Studios in this thrilling nighttime fireworks spectacular! Guests can catch this show at 9:30 pm, and are able to watch it from Sleeping Beauty Castle, “it’s a small world,” and along the Rivers of America in Frontierland! (showtimes listed on the Disneyland app)

World of Color ONE. Possibly one of our all-time favorite evening shows at any Disney park, guests will discover how a single action can make a world of difference during this exhilarating nighttime extravaganza. This show features light projects on water displays and fountains right in front of the giant Ferris Wheel at Pixar Pier! Guests can catch this show twice per night, once at 9:00 pm, and again at 10:15 pm. (showtimes listed on the Disneyland app)

Disney100 Merchandise. In almost every shop throughout the parks, guests will find sparkly, silver & purple merchandise with the Disney100 anniversary logo on it! From t-shirts & sweatshirts to Mickey ears, Dooney & Bourke bags, and of course, collectible pins! You’ll definitely want to snag some exclusive merchandise to commemorate this huge anniversary & remember that YOU were there for it! 🙂

Disney100 special food & beverage offerings. At tons of locations in both parks, guests will find special food and drink that is only available for a limited time! The best place to check out in Disneyland Park is the Jolly Holiday Cafe at the very end of Main Street USA! They have a ton of Disney100 exclusive dessert items including Lemon Tea Cake, a Platinum Trifle, and Mrs.Banks Shortbread Tart! Jolly Holiday also offers 3 different Disney100 souvenir cups that come with a beverage when you purchase them! One is a platinum Mickey Mouse sipper, a plastic Disney100 cup with characters all over it & a bendy straw, and lastly, a stainless steel tumbler (which we got!) featuring a cartooned version of Walt Disney himself!

NEW Toontown offerings & attraction! (will still be available after the Disney100 concludes) Mickey’s Toontown has officially reopened at Disneyland Park & now offers an exciting NEW Disneyland attraction: Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway! Guests will step into the whimsical universe of a Mickey Mouse short and hitch a ride on Engineer Goofy’s train. What could possibly go wrong?!  Only one way to find out; guests may join the virtual queue or purchase a Lightning Lane pass via the Disneyland app. (on some days, a standby line may be available, check the Disneyland app for daily updates!) After taking a ride with Engineer Goofy, guests can take a spin with Roger Rabbit, grab a hot dog or watermelon lemonade at Cafe Daisy, and finish the town off by playing in Goofy’s How-to-Play Yard or Donald’s Duck Pond!

More reasons to consider Disneyland Resort when planning your next Disney vacation…

Visit the original Disney theme park. True Disney fans definitely have Disneyland on their bucket list, and rightfully so! There are so many spaces that are exclusive to the West Coast park: In New Orleans Square, guests will find a different version of fan-favorite attraction “Pirates of the Caribbean,” as well as Blue Bayou restaurant, and soon-to-be “Tiana’s Palace” is on the way, too! Walt’s apartment on Main Street USA is a must-spot landmark that dates all the way back to before Disneyland opened; Walt is said to have spent many days and nights in this apartment working on the opening of Disneyland Park! Guests can also see how attractions compare to the East Coast parks (many rides are different!) as well as ride all the Disneyland-exclusive attractions such as the Matterhorn, Alice in Wonderland, Indiana Jones Adventure, Snow White’s Enchanted Wish, and MANY more!

Disney California Adventure Park. This park alone is reason enough to visit Disneyland!

Visit Cars Land: Race around the desert on Radiator Springs Racers, grab a bacon mac & cheese bread cone at the Cozy Cone, book a dining reservation at Flo’s V8 Cafe, and take a ride on Luigi’s Rollickin’; Roadsters after spinning around on Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree! (yep, 3 attractions!)

Avengers Campus is not to be missed by Marvel fans! Watch an incredible stunt show with Spiderman, then join him on a web-slinging adventure (“Webslingers”), grab a drink or a GIANT pretzel from the Pym Test Kitchen, see the Dr.Strange show (times listed in the Disneyland app) and wrap it up with a ride (or drop!) on Guardian of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout!

Pixar Pier is by far the most iconic location in the park, featuring the Pixar Pal-A-Round Swinging Ferris Wheel! Grab a drink or brunch at Lamplight Lounge, play the games on the boardwalk, take a spin on Inside Out’s Emotional Whirlwind & grab a refreshing frozen drink from Bing Bong’s shop next door! There’s so much to see & do on the pier!
