Will “Black Widow” meet the same fate as “Mulan?”
Yesterday, Disney announced that the highly anticipated superhero film starring Scarlett Johansson is being pushed back to May 7, 2021. The movie has been delayed three times.
The movie’s release date timeline is as follows;
Original Release Date- May 1, 2020
Second Release Date- November 6, 2020
NEW Release Date- May 7, 2021
“Black Widow” being delayed again is a tough pill to swallow for movie theaters. The film is one of the most anticipated of the year and comes from the Marvel franchise, which is one of the most reliable blockbuster brands in Hollywood.
Disney’s “Mulan” was in a similar situation. It was delayed several times and eventually released on Disney Plus (for an additional cost) on September 4th. It will be available for Disney Plus subscribers to stream for free on December 4th. Will “Black Widow” end up being released on Disney Plus? Only time will tell.
Theaters, which reopened over the summer after being closed for months, are in desperate need of hit movies — or really any new movies for that matter.
