Here at The Kingdom Insider we are so excited to learn about the expansion of the plant-based menu offerings coming to both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort!
Walt Disney World guests can expect to find the newly launched plant-based menu icon, a green leaf, with the introduction of new options at quick service locations starting October 1st, and at table service locations starting October 3rd at theme parks and hotels. Disneyland will be debuting their plant-based menus come spring 2020. The new green leaf icon will serve to make ordering quicker and easier for those wishing to eat plant-based. From a small pamphlet to standardized menus- The Disney Dining and Culinary team is taking the small piloted program at the Magic Kingdom and expanding it to over 400 tasty plant-powered dishes all over Disney property!
Some of you may be wondering, “what does plant-based mean exactly?” The new plant-based menu options will be made from ingredients like vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes – and are made without animal meat, dairy, eggs or honey. This is great news for food allergy guests who suffer from dairy, egg, and fish allergies, as well as vegan and vegetarian guests. A move like this really shows
that inclusion is a priority for Disney as they are truly aiming to provide an exciting and delicious culinary experience for ALL guests in a safe and inclusive way. You don’t have to have food allergies or be a strict vegan to enjoy items off these menus- from the looks if it, meat eaters will be tempted to go over to the green side with these sweet and savory creations! Check out a preview of some of the new plant-based menu items popping up soon in Disney parks.
So far, the response from Disney fans has been a positive one. One fan commented, “Offering these options is so amazing for our health, our beautiful planet, and animals. So grateful!!” Another praised Disney, “Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I spent hours preparing for our trip next month, sifting through all the menus of all the restaurants in each park and then planning our days around plant-based meal options where needed. What a relief to know that more options will be available now and we will have more flexibility in our meal choices.” We can’t wait to get our hands on these new items and are so excited for the food allergy families who will now have more options to enjoy safely while on vacation!
