After the shutdown of Broadway last year from the coronavirus pandemic the arts have been completely shattered. The New York entertainers have been left broken hearted for almost a year with no hope left for their career paths. After an announcement made by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo a plan was set into place to revive and restore the arts to New York. This could be the turning point for Broadway.
The NY PopsUp Festival will be a series of surprise performances throughout the state, this is all part of the plan in rebuilding the arts, a brilliant and creative way to grow the community again. The festival will kick off on February 20, 2021 with members of the artists council. As well as performances by Idina Menzel, Hugh Jackman and more. The New York PopsUp serves as a newly instated pilot program to test how to bring back live performances safely after the COVID-19 shutdown that has absolutely destroyed the entertainment industry.
Each and every performance will be coordinated to follow the state public health officials recommendations as well as follow the Department of Health COVID-19 protocols and CDC guidelines.
Over the course of summer the recently in stated recovery plan will fall into place with the 20th annual Tribeca Film Festival. Governor Cuomo’s plan will include the reopening of some indoor venues throughout New York State thus could lead to the reopening of Broadway. This is all positive news that could lead to bringing back some of our favorite performances by the end of the summer just in time for the holidays!
Although the announcement was made that Disney on Broadway would be dark until at least may 30, 2021. We still have hope to see them again some day soon.
