In March, Disney Park’s Blog announced that Disney’s newest ship, Disney Fantasy, would be headed to dry dock in order to fit out some new spaces and create new experiences. Some of these updates include:
- Re-imagineering of Disney’s Oceaneer Club into the new Star Wars: Command Post
- All New Marvel Super Hero Training Academy
- “Sweet on You” ice cream shop
- All New shopping experience at Tiffany & Co.
Disney Fantasy Returns to Sea
After 2 short months of dry dock, the updates have been completed and families have already begun to experience these new spaces. On May 17, 2017, the Disney Fantasy set sail for the first time since dry dock. Passengers were able to experience these updates for the first time. Disney Park’s Blog was there and provided us with a first look at these updates.
Star Wars: Command Post
Now kids can train with heroes of the Star Wars saga and help with missions against the First Order. Throughout their journey, they’ll meet members of the Resistance and learn to channel the Force.
Sweet on You
Themed after the iconic Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts, this whimsical ice cream shop features hand-crafted gelato and ice-cream, specialty sundaes, homemade chocolates, truffles and lots and lots of candy.
Tiffany & Co.
This premier jewelry store is home to timeless collections of jewelry and luxury accessories, including the Tiffany T collection and other glamorous pieces featuring renowned Tiffany & Co. diamonds.
Smooth Sailing? Not quite
Unfortunately, on this same sailing, Disney Fantasy experienced some mechanical issues that resulted in a delayed return back to port. According to Disney Cruise Line Blog, Disney Cruise Line worked with customers who had purchased their flight directly through Disney to find a new return flight. Disney was able to provide passengers who booked on their own were directed to guest services for assistance. As a result of this delay, Disney Cruise Line was forced to change the itinerary for the 7 day as well as delay the embarking of the next cruise passengers.
