We previously mentioned that Disney was talking they were going to start charging a base rate of $15 plus a per mile charge for the Minnie vans instead of the flat $25 fee.
According to WDWNT the new pricing is in effect with additional miles costing $2.75 each! As you can imagine, it adds up quickly. Now going from the Magic Kingdom area to the Animal Kingdom area can cost you $40 or more, with most other trips being more than $30 now!
Lyft and Uber will cost you much less, although for the Magic Kingdom they can only drop you off or pick you up at the Ticket and Transportation Center where Minnie Vans drop off and pick up in the bus area.
Immediately I wondered if this would affect the demand. Usually Minnie vans are busy and not always available. WDWNT pointed out that there are many more available now:
Looking at the Lyft app you typically don’t see many Minnie Van available, but this morning there were dozens immediately available across property.
As time goes on it will be interesting to see how the demand for Minnie Vans goes.
