Is a third park coming to Tokyo Disneyland? According to a recent article in the Japanese newspaper The Mainichi Shimbun, a third gate is under consideration.
From TDR Explorer…
According to a report in the Sunday edition of the Mainichi Shimbun, a leading Japanese newspaper, Oriental Land Company (OLC) is making plans for a third park at Tokyo Disney Resort. Consideration is being given to theming the park as Tokyo DisneySky.
The sky and space themed park would feature a jet plane simulator, moving walkways, and open as early as 2022.
The news builds on last year’s rumors of a $2.7 billion investment at the resort.
However, it must be noted that the Oriental Land Company (which operates Tokyo Disneyland) has denied such rumors in a statement.
Some sites are theorizing that the new land could include clones of Pandora – The World of Avatar and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as well as potentially Marvel and Pixar IPs.
Currently we have very little information about a third gate at Tokyo Disneyland, but it’s very possible given how much expansion is going on at Disney Parks around the world right now.
