Are we getting closer to an official announcement of Nintendo coming to Universal Orlando Resort?
Universal has filed for a permit to widen Sand Lake Road, presumably in anticipation of a third theme park, which was discussed in July.
From the Orlando Sentinel…
The new permit application comes as the theme park operator is pursuing a major expansion in Orlando. Universal has acquired 575 acres around Universal Boulevard in the past two years.
In late July, company leaders confirmed they were looking at building a new park to join Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Island of Adventure as they spoke with analysts during a Comcast earnings call.
It’s extremely likely that this new park will contain at least a Nintendo-themed land, which could pose some serious competition with Disney.

There has been no official announcement of a third theme park yet or what attractions it would contain, but it’s almost a certainty at this point.
