A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against Universal by the deceased’s wife and son.
Wrongful death lawsuit filed against Universal
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Jose Calderon Arana collapsed and died shortly after riding the Skull Island Reign of Kong on December 10, 2016. This attraction opened that same year inn June 13,2016. Arana’s Wife and son are seaking $15,000.
The lawsuit states that “Universal should have know that the ride had a ‘potential for a cardiovascular incident,’ but the theme park failed to post warnings in Spanish for tourists who do not speak English.”
There was also no mention in the lawsuit if Arana had a previous history of cardiovascular issues.
Skull Island Reign of Kong
The attraction is described by Universal as such;
Brave the dangers of a mysterious island where few dare to venture. On a treacherous journey into the dark heart of the jungle, prehistoric predators and fearsome creatures attack your vehicle from all sides. Your expedition guide fights them back with all her might. But as razor-sharp teeth and grasping talons tear into your vehicle, an ape of unimaginable size—ferocious, yet awe-inspiring—hurls himself between you and certain doom. Is he your hero or the ultimate foe? With each primal roar, each chest-pounding thud, one thundering truth becomes clear: This is his home, his kingdom. And only he reigns.
