Yes, Insiders, you read that heading right! A REAL, actual bear somehow got into Magic Kingdom this morning (Monday, September 18, 2023). Cast Members spotted the bear in a tree, and as a result, Frontierland, Liberty Square, and Adventureland were closed down. The “My Disney Experience” app showed multiple attractions were closed this morning (includeing: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Country Bear Jamboree, Hall of Presidents, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Pirate’s Adventure, Pirates of the Caribbean, Swiss Family Treehouse, Tom Sawyer Island, Walt Disney World Railroad (Fantasyland and Main Street.)
WESH news shared a video of the search efforts and of individuals carrying a large black figure in a white tarp, which you can check out here.
Representatives from Florida Fish and Wildlife made the following statement:
“In most cases, it is best for bears to be given space and to move along on their own, but given this situation, staff are working on capturing and relocating the bear. During the fall, bears are more active as they search for food to pack on fat reserves for the winter. This particular bear was likely moving through the area searching for food.”
Disney reopened Frontierland, Liberty Square and Adventureland just before 1 p.m., and news officials are still waiting for final confirmation that the bear has been captured.
