One special and unique thing about MCO (Orlando Airport) is that those flying in for their special vacation at Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando get their first look at Disney or Universal merchandise right there at the airport! Now it’s even more, special because two brand new stores just opened at MCO in Terminal C-The Walt Disney World Store and the Universal Store. Cast members recently came together for a grand opening celebration, and from the pictures, both shops look entirely magical.
With smiles on their faces and eagerness to welcome the first guests into the Walt Disney World store, the opening cast participated in the traditional ribbon-cutting moment – the culmination of many months of hard work. “I can’t wait to see all the amazing and magical things our cast are going to make happen in this beautiful new space,” said Rachel Swears, GM of Merchandise.
In its first phase, the recently inaugurated state-of-the-art Terminal C will primarily host international flights. “This terminal represents international guests coming back to Walt Disney World, and this location is the perfect spot to welcome them back to our Central Florida community and the Disney magic,” said Matt Simon, VP of Disney Springs.
If you intend to visit soon, the first thing you will notice as you walk through the terminal is a stunning 3D display in front of the Walt Disney World Store that will showcase some of your favorite Disney characters and attractions. Once you walk inside, you will be welcomed by a gorgeous, sculpted castle in the center atrium, with the four park icons adorning the upper ceiling. Magical walls that light up the store provide the perfect stage for you to shop commemorative souvenirs, including items that celebrate the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World (the celebration will end on March 31, 202).
Also, one other exciting piece of news regarding this new Wat Disney World store is that character statues are back! You can now say cheese with Minnie and Goody in front of the Castle and take a photo with Pluto!
“You are going to be the cast members that our guests are going to see for the very first or last time on their vacation,” said Walt Disney World Ambassador Ali Manion to the opening cast. “I want to thank you for the magic you make every day and hope that you never underestimate the impact you have.”
If you are headed to Universal Orlando as well, you will be excited to learn that there is also a new Universal Store in Terminal C (located in the Palm Court)! On the first floor, there are sections devoted to the Minions as well as Jurassic World. The second floor features merchandise from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and there is even a gigantic fire-breathing dragon on a video display that stretches from the walls to the ceiling!
