Starting this summer, there will be a new way to order from select restaurants in Walt Disney World.
The My Disney Experience app will be updated with a new feature called Mobile Order. This service will first be made available with Satul’i Canteen in Pandora – The World of Avatar on May 27, 2017.
The app allows park guests to order their food online, similar to how Be Our Guest in the Magic Kingdom currently works. However, guests can notify the restaurant when they’re present and are shown a progress bar while their order is being prepared.
While the Mobile Order feature makes its debut with Satul’i Canteen, it will be expanded to other Animal Kingdom quick service dining locations throughout the park including Pizzafari, Flame Tree Barbecue and Restaurantosaurus. If successful, it’s very probable that this technology will be incorporated into the other Walt Disney World parks in the future.
No Cell Phone, No Disney World
While most people who can afford a Disney vacation probably have a cell phone, it’s becoming a more and more necessary tool to plan your Disney vacation. The My Disney Experience has practically become a necessity for booking Fastpasses and dining reservations, and Disney will continue to add new bells and whistles to the app.
Given how much technology has changed the Disney park experience in the last few years, I have to wonder what the next decade will hold?
