Disney Dining Plan Options at Walt Disney World

Planning your first Walt Disney World vacation can feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to food. Between quick-service restaurants, character meals, snacks, and signature dining experiences, it’s easy to wonder whether a Disney Dining Plan is worth it.

The good news? Disney Dining Plans are designed to make vacation budgeting easier by allowing guests to prepay for meals and snacks before their trip. If you’ve never used one before, here’s a simple breakdown of how they work and which plan may be right for your family.

What Is a Disney Dining Plan?

A Disney Dining Plan is a prepaid meal package that can be added to select Walt Disney World vacation packages that include a Disney Resort hotel stay.

Rather than paying for every meal separately during your vacation, you’ll receive a set number of meal and snack credits based on the length of your stay. These credits can be used throughout Walt Disney World, including the theme parks, Disney Resort hotels, and Disney Springs. Unused credits roll over from day to day and expire at midnight on your checkout day.

How Dining Credits Work

Each dining plan provides credits for:

  • Quick-service meals
  • Table-service meals (depending on the plan)
  • Snacks
  • A resort-refillable drink mug

You don’t have to use the credits on a specific day. For example, if you receive five snack credits for a five-night stay, you can use them whenever you’d like during your vacation.

Disney Dining Plans Available for 2026

For 2026 vacations, Disney offers two dining plans.

Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan

This plan is designed for guests who prefer flexibility and don’t want to spend a lot of time sitting down for meals.

Each guest receives per night of stay:

  • 2 Quick-Service Meals
  • 1 Snack or Nonalcoholic Beverage
  • 1 Resort-Refillable Drink Mug

Quick-service meals include:

  • One entrée
  • One beverage

These meals are available at counter-service restaurants throughout Walt Disney World. Mobile ordering is available at many locations, making this option especially convenient for busy park days.

Disney Dining Plan

This plan combines both quick-service and sit-down dining experiences.

Each guest receives per night of stay:

  • 1 Table-Service Meal
  • 1 Quick-Service Meal
  • 1 Snack or Nonalcoholic Beverage
  • 1 Resort-Refillable Drink Mug

This option is ideal for guests who want to enjoy character dining, resort restaurants, or a daily sit-down meal while still having the flexibility of quick-service dining.

What Is a Quick-Service Meal?

Quick-service restaurants are Disney’s counter-service dining locations.

Think:

  • Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café
  • Columbia Harbour House
  • Connections Eatery
  • Most resort food courts

A quick-service meal generally includes:

  • One entrée
  • One beverage

These restaurants typically do not require reservations and are perfect for families looking to maximize park time.

What Is a Table-Service Meal?

Table-service restaurants offer full sit-down dining with servers.

Examples include:

  • Character dining experiences
  • Resort restaurants
  • Restaurants in Disney Springs
  • Many dining locations inside the theme parks

For breakfast, a table-service meal typically includes:

  • One entrée or buffet/family-style meal
  • One beverage

For lunch or dinner, it generally includes:

  • One entrée or buffet/family-style meal
  • One dessert
  • One beverage

Advance dining reservations are strongly recommended for popular restaurants.

Character Dining and Signature Dining

One of the biggest advantages of the Disney Dining Plan is the ability to use credits toward unique dining experiences.

However, some premium dining experiences require two table-service credits instead of one.

Examples include:

  • Cinderella’s Royal Table
  • Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (lunch and dinner)
  • Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White
  • Many Signature Dining restaurants
  • Certain dinner shows

These experiences can provide excellent value when using the Disney Dining Plan.

What Counts as a Snack?

Snack credits can be redeemed at many locations throughout Walt Disney World.

Examples include:

  • Mickey ice cream bars
  • Fruit bars and popsicles
  • Popcorn
  • Whole fruit
  • Packaged snacks
  • Bottled beverages
  • Fountain drinks
  • Coffee, tea, milk, or juice
  • Soup

Items intended for multiple servings and souvenir containers are generally not eligible.

Resort-Refillable Drink Mug

Every dining plan includes a refillable mug that can be used at self-service beverage stations located at Disney Resort hotels during your stay.

This is especially useful for guests staying at Disney Resorts who enjoy coffee, soda, tea, or other fountain beverages throughout the day.

Are Gratuities Included?

Usually, no.

Tips are not included with Disney Dining Plans except for a few select experiences, including:

  • Cinderella’s Royal Table
  • Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue
  • Private Dining at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Guests should budget separately for gratuities when dining at table-service restaurants.

Which Disney Dining Plan Should You Choose?

Choose the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan if:

  • You prefer flexibility
  • You don’t want to schedule dining reservations
  • You plan to spend most of your day in the parks
  • Your family likes quick meals and snacks

Choose the Disney Dining Plan if:

  • Character dining is a priority
  • You enjoy sit-down meals
  • You want a mix of convenience and special dining experiences
  • You plan to book popular restaurants during your vacation

For many Walt Disney World visitors, a Disney Dining Plan offers convenience, predictable vacation budgeting, and the flexibility to enjoy a variety of dining experiences without constantly pulling out a credit card.

The Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan is perfect for guests who want maximum flexibility, while the Disney Dining Plan is a great choice for families who want to experience Disney’s table-service restaurants and character meals.

Before booking, consider your family’s dining style, how much time you want to spend eating versus enjoying attractions, and whether special dining experiences are part of your vacation plans. Choosing the right plan can help make your Walt Disney World vacation even more magical.
