There’s buzz surrounding Playbuzz, and Disney wants in.
Disney is one of several companies that helped the company raise $35 million in Series C funding. Disney had previously invested in Playbuzz in 2016. Other companies who’ve invested in the New York based digital media platform include Saban Ventures, 83North, Carmel Ventures, Firstime and Oded Vardi.
Playbuzz is used primarily for creating quizlets and interactive widgets for many major media outlets including VH1, Huffington Post and NBC. Disney uses Playbuzz applets for sites including ESPN and ABC News.
With the new funding, Playbuzz plans to expand its focus on branded content. The company sells native-ad campaigns to top brands, which have included Universal Studios, Netflix, Warner Bros., Unilever and the New York Lottery.
