It’s finally the New Year, which means that Disney’s Magical Express will sadly no longer be in service (however, they will still be taking guests from Walt Disney World to MCO through mid-Jan.). In April of last year, Disney announced that this beloved transport service that took guests to and from MCO would be ending. They also announced that Mears Connect would be replacing Disney’s Magical Express. Spectrum News had previously reported:
“In response to the shutdown, Mears said it will roll out its own direct service called Mears Connect. The service will launch January 2022 and will provide transportation between Orlando International Airport and resorts in the Walt Disney World area.”
“Guests can expect scheduled service, luggage handling, convenient airport terminal staging, and return trips to the airport,” Mears also said in a previous news release.
Mears spokesperson Roger Chapin also previously stated, “We plan to offer the same level of experience, service and convenience we’ve provided for the last 16 years, on behalf of our longtime partner, as returning guests and first-time visitors can expect nothing less.”
Although Disney’s Magical Express complimentary service will be sorely missed, we are glad that another wonderful service will be replacing it, and guests can make their reservations to Walt Disney World and back to MCO online. They are offering two different options:
- Standard: Shared service, large/small vehicles, monitored wait time, limited stops
- Express: Limited wait time, direct service, not considered private service
Other modes of transportation you can use to get to the parks and back to MCO are Sunshine Flyer bus, rental car, Uber or any other rideshare service, taxi, and more (such as limo service, other shuttle service, etc.).
