It’s January, we all know what that means! Time to tackle some resolutions!
If you are like me, you have put a list of goals or resolutions on a wall, the fridge or in your planner. And if you are like me…around the first week of February, you get distracted. Bye-bye resolution!
I have decided to go through some of these popular resolutions and help you do them…DISNEY style! Every Tuesday for the next 4 weeks I’ll drop a popular resolution and ideas to get you going!
In 2021 I will, Work On My Fitness!
There are plenty of ways to get yourself moving when visiting the parks. If you count your steps already, you know you can get anywhere from 8,000 – 20,000 in one day (yes….I’ve definitely done that many). But what about when you ARE NOT in the parks? I have a few pointers and ideas to get you started!
If You Are Staying At A Disney Resort
Disney Running Trails
Did you know there are over 15 different jogging paths on 17 resort properties across Walt Disney World Resort? If you are staying at any one of the resorts below, there are paths ranging from .08 to 4 miles long! And the views are magical! While there are some resorts not taking reservations on this list, I will still list them for your future reference!
-Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.
Coronado Springs features a 0.75-mile-long loop around Lago Dorado.
-Disney’s Yacht Club, Beach Club (villas are open) and Boardwalk Inn (Villas are open). These amazing resorts have jogging paths looping around Crescent Lake.
–Disney’s Swan AND Dolphin Resorts.
You may enjoy an 0.8-mile loop around Crescent Lake. For more of a challenge, 2-, 3- and 4-mile routes are available!
-Caribbean Beach Resort and Riviera Resort. Take a scenic jog along a 1.25-mile OR 1.4-mile trail around Barefoot Bay.
-Fort Wilderness Resort. Enjoy this 3.1-mile-long path winding through the shaded, scenic back country surrounding the campground!
-Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter. (Currently Closed) Jog along the tranquil Sassagoula River on a 1.7-mile promenade connecting the Riverside and French Quarter Resort areas.
–Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa AND Disney’s Old Key West Resort. You can run on paved pathways along Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course. Jog 1.37-mile, 1.44-mile and 0.8-mile loops.
-Disney’s Pop Century AND Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. Take a scenic run along Hourglass Lake and through these iconic Resort hotels on a 1.1-mile or 1.38-mile loop.
– Disney’s All Star Movies, All star Music & All star Sports. (Currently Closed) Each have a 1 mile trail connecting the three value resorts!

For the adventurous types, there’s opportunities to go horseback riding and get archery lessons at Fort Wilderness Resort!

If You Are Still At Home
Run Disney is now more accessible than ever. They have virtual runs throughout the year and you get a finisher medal and commemorative shirt! On Run Disney’s website they have training plans for beginner to experienced runners as well as tips for a success. You can also check out the Rundisney blog for help on nutrition and pre-post run meal planning!

If you miss out on official Disney Virtual runs, Hakuna Matata, slip on your best Disney leggings and some mouse ears and plan a day to run a 5k or 10k in your own neighborhood! Inform friends you are going to do a fun run in the neighborhood and invite them to make signs and cheer you on from afar! Much like the “car parades” happening across the world during lockdowns, your friends and family will totally get into it! You Got This!
