Here is the updated information on The Walt Disney World website:
Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) and Cast Members. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them in all indoor locations, except when actively eating or drinking while stationary and maintaining appropriate physical distancing. Face coverings are optional in outdoor common areas at Walt Disney World Resort, but are still required upon entering and throughout all attractions, theaters and transportation.
The Disney World website also includes this handy little chart that shows clearly where face coverings are required and where they are optional:

Universal Orlando made the same announcement earlier today and excitement has spread like wildfire to theme park fans everywhere. Disney World is now following behind in announcing this new update to their COVID-19 health and safety protocols. This is a giant step toward returning to normalcy and this announcement comes as a relief to many as the Florida summer heat and humidity arrives.
This news also comes shortly after the CDC announced yesterday that face masks no longer need to be worn if you are fully vaccinated, and you may resume all activities you were doing before the pandemic hit. Disney is a private company, so they still can hold their own policy that a face mask is required. So while face masks aren’t gone for good just yet, this is still very exciting news to Disney World fans who have been eager to be rid of their face masks, especially outdoors in the summer heat!
We also previously announced that Disney has started to phase out onsite temperature screenings at Walt Disney World Resort for Cast Members beginning May 8 and later Disney World Guests on May 16, 2021!
We will continue to report more on continuing changes as Disney makes announcements!
Are you excited that face masks are no longer required outdoors at Walt Disney World?!
