The most wonderful time of year is returning to Universal Studios Hollywood next month Insiders! I personally really love Halloween time at Universal, but Christmas time is a whole other magical event. The park transforms from horror to festive holiday fun within just a few weeks and they have so many festivities in store for their visitors. This year the park will start celebrating the holiday season November 26 and will run through January 2!

There are two reason I love the holidays at Universal Hollywood so, so much–the first being Grinchmas. Growing up I would read The Grinch several times and of course I watched both the cartoon and the live-action Jim Carey version over and over. As an adult The Grinch is so nostalgic and Universal brings you right into the world of Who-ville which makes for such amazing holiday memories. This year you will be able to spend the holidays with the Grinch, Max, and Who-ville at the Who-tacular Grinchmas celebration; snap a photo with the Grinch, Max, and more of your favorite Who-ville neighbors; and last but not least (and my personal favorite) you can witness the spectacular lighting of the one-of-a-kind Dr. Seuss inspired tree. It’s the ultimate Who-ville and Grinchmas celebration!
PLUS, don’t forget to do the backlot tram tour where you will visit the actual Who-ville movie set and you’ll get treated with a little show from the Who’s themselves!
The second reason I love the holidays at Universal Studios Hollywood so much is because of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Tell me, what can be better than celebrating the holidays in the wizarding world? Hogsmeade gets transformed with enchanting spirit, festive décor and holiday-themed food, beverages and entertainment. You even get to experience The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle, a holiday spectacle of dazzling lights and music. It’s really just pure magic and there’s no better way to get into the holiday spirit.
Believe it or not, it can get a bit chilly here in Southern California during the winter so you’ll want to warm up with a hot Butterbeer while listening to the Frog Choir sing Christmas carols, accompanied by the smooth bass rumbles of their giant throaty frogs. Nighttime is my favorite time to walk around Hogsmeade during the holidays because everything is lit up with dazzling lights, garlands, wreaths, and festive decor. You also definitely won’t want to miss the holiday spectacle, “The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle”, a projection show that will illuminate Hogwarts Castle with holiday images accompanied by the epic music from the films!
You will find holiday cheer all around Universal Studios Hollywood and discover holiday magic in every bite with festive food and drinks around the park and at CityWalk. It really is the most magical time of year at the park and you won’t want to miss out on all the fun festivities, especially because the park was shut down during the holidays last year in 2020. This year the festivities are back and better than ever, and Universal can’t wait to give visitors some amazing holiday magic and memories!
